Commercializing Space Technology.

Building Sustainable Businesses.

Space is becoming another layer of global infrastructure. The challenge is no longer building breakthrough technology. It is turning innovation into commercially successful businesses that attract customers, capital and long-term growth.

I work with founders, investors, governments and industry to help commercialise emerging technologies by combining engineering, capital markets, strategy and ecosystem development.

Lets' Connect

Whether you're building a company, investing in emerging technologies, developing an innovation ecosystem or simply interested in the future of the space economy, I'd be pleased to hear from you.

Starry Night Sky

How I Work.

Over the past three decades, I've worked across aerospace engineering, global capital markets, entrepreneurship and the commercialisation of emerging technologies. I've led large-scale transformation programmes for Fortune 100 organisations, managed a $100M+ global consulting portfolio, and worked with venture capital, private equity and institutional investors to build scalable businesses.

While the industries have changed, my approach has remained consistent: understand the underlying structure of complex problems, bring together the right people and ideas, and create practical solutions that deliver meaningful results.

I've learned that sustainable success depends on more than great technology. It comes from aligning strategy, people, culture and execution, and from building the trusted relationships that turn innovation into lasting businesses.

Culture drives behaviour. Behaviour drives results.

What I Do.

As Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Space Network, I help build the commercial infrastructure that enables the global space economy to grow.

My work spans commercial strategy, partnerships, investment readiness and ecosystem development, connecting founders, investors, corporates, government and academia to accelerate the commercialisation of space technologies.

Through Sustainable Alpha, I advise founders and organisations on strategy, organisational performance and growth outside Space Network.

Drawing on experience across engineering, financial services and venture building, I help organisations translate innovation into sustainable commercial success through strategy, investment readiness, go-to-market execution and organisational effectiveness.

Everything Is Flying.

Latest Cover Image.jpeg

Everything Is Flying takes readers on a journey from the earliest astronomers to today's commercial space race, exploring the history, science and people behind rockets, satellites and space exploration, all in plain language.

Space is no longer a distant frontier. It has become another layer of global infrastructure, shaping everything from communications and navigation to finance, healthcare, agriculture and global logistics.

I wrote the book to help everyday readers, and anyone curious about space, understand that story and why it matters.

Featured Articles.

I write about the commercial space economy, entrepreneurship, investment, innovation and the organisations shaping the future of technology. My articles combine practical commercial experience with an engineer's perspective.

Beyond Work.

Curiosity has always shaped both my career and my life.

Outside work, I volunteer with the Windham Mountain Ski Patrol in New York as an Emergency Medical Technician, where teamwork, calm decision-making and helping others matter far more than job titles. I'm proud of my Scottish roots and enjoy supporting Scotland's innovation ecosystem through GlobalScot, as well as spending time on the Isle of Arran, where I co-founded Arran Botanical Drinks, a craft gin company inspired by the island's natural heritage.

I'm also a lifelong learner. Alongside my engineering degree, I've continued to study subjects including digital assets, climate finance, cybersecurity, space and emergency medicine through institutions including Wharton, EDHEC, the International Space University and the University of Strathclyde.

Education & Recognition

I graduated with First Class Honours in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Glasgow, receiving the Glasgow University Engineering Society Medal as the University's top engineering graduate, together with awards from the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Alexander J. Younger Prize for Physics. During my undergraduate years, I was also recognised as Scotland Undergraduate of the Year for three consecutive years (1990–1992) at Rolls-Royce (Aero Engines).

Learning has remained a constant throughout my career, continuing through executive education and professional certifications in finance, space, technology and emergency medicine.
